ITV Unveils World Cup Pundit Line-Up Featuring Three Former Manchester United Stars
ITV has announced its line-up for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, set to take place in North America starting June 11, 2026. The broadcaster has assembled a notable team of pundits, presenters, and commentators, including three former Manchester United players: Roy Keane, Gary Neville, and Juan Mata.
Notable Pundits and Presenters
The ITV team will feature a diverse array of football experts, including well-known figures from various clubs. Alongside Keane, Neville, and Mata, the line-up includes Arsenal legends Patrick Vieira and Ian Wright, as well as former managers like Ange Postecoglou, who has led both Tottenham and Celtic, and Duncan Ferguson, known for his time at Rangers and the Scotland national team.
In addition to these footballing icons, the team will also include Emma Hayes, manager of the US women’s national team, and Karen Carney, a celebrated player for the Lionesses. Other contributors will be Bradley Wright-Phillips, a former Manchester City forward, and Jobi McAnuff, a regular pundit on Sky Sports.
Omitted Figures Spark Discussion
Despite the strong line-up, several notable omissions have raised eyebrows. Eni Aluko, who previously worked with ITV during the last World Cup and Euro 2024, will not be part of the coverage. Aluko has publicly expressed her disappointment after being overlooked for the final match between England and Spain, a game that Ian Wright participated in.
Aluko has also accused Wright of hindering opportunities for female pundits within the sport. Other notable absentees include Graeme Souness, Joe Cole, Nigel De Jong, Nadia Nadim, and Hal Robson-Kanu, all of whom contributed to ITV’s coverage during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Comprehensive Coverage Plans
ITV’s coverage will be anchored by presenters Mark Pougatch, Laura Woods, and Semra Hunter. Commentary will be provided by Sam Matterface, Jon Champion, Seb Hutchinson, and Joe Speight, while co-commentary will feature Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, Andros Townsend, and Lucy Ward. Reporters Gabriel Clarke and Connie McLaughlin will be on the ground, with Christina Unkel serving as the referee analyst.
In addition to serious analysis, ITV plans to introduce a segment led by Adam Richman, focusing on the cultural and social moments of the tournament, featuring various celebrity guests.
Broadcast Details
ITV will share coverage responsibilities with the BBC, with both networks airing the final match. The first two matches of the tournament, including the opener between co-hosts Mexico City and South Africa, will be broadcast by ITV. The network will also show England’s opening match against Croatia on June 17 and Scotland’s game against Morocco on June 19.
ITV is set to air a total of 29 group games, including matches involving world champions Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain. The network will broadcast live from New York City throughout the tournament.
Niall Sloane, ITV’s director of sport, emphasized the significance of this World Cup, stating that it is the largest in history. He highlighted the importance of unifying the UK audience through such a major sporting event and assured viewers that ITV’s extensive coverage would ensure they do not miss any key moments.
