Thousands of Residents Sign UAE Pledge, Celebrating Commitment to Nation’s Future
Dubai: A significant community movement has emerged in the UAE, with thousands of residents participating in the UAE’s Pledge and Commitment initiative. This initiative, launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, serves as a platform for individuals to express their connection to the UAE and its future.
The initiative reflects appreciation for the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, particularly in enhancing national security, social cohesion, and stability. The response has been overwhelming, with over 5,000 residents signing the pledge, motivated by a desire to affirm their commitment to the nation, despite receiving no tangible rewards.
Community Engagement and Personal Stories
Among those who signed the pledge is Kaunain Fatima, an Indian expatriate and travel writer. She noted the remarkable participation, emphasizing that many individuals chose to engage without expecting any benefits. Fatima shared her family’s journey, highlighting her father’s arrival in the UAE 30 years ago with little more than hope. She expressed gratitude for the opportunities the country has provided, stating, “The UAE makes you believe that betting on yourself is worth it.”
Fatima’s experience resonates with many expatriates who have found a sense of belonging in the UAE. She remarked on the unique feeling of connection she has with the country, stating, “I’ve travelled to 29 countries and I can tell you, not every place makes you feel like you belong to it. The UAE does.”
A Collective Vision for the Future
The pledge also symbolizes a shared commitment to the UAE’s future and the values that have shaped its development. Fernandes Geoffrey, a Ghanaian IT support professional in Dubai, expressed his pride in being part of a nation that promotes innovation and sustainable growth. He stated, “Guided by the principles of unity, tolerance, and ambition, we remain committed to contributing to a future filled with opportunity and success for generations ahead.”
Divya Singh, Head of Marketing at Shams Free Zone and an Indian expatriate, reflected on her seven years in the UAE. She emphasized the sense of safety and security that the country offers its residents. Singh noted, “It’s the comfort of knowing your child can grow up in a safe environment, the confidence that comes with going about daily life without fear.”
She acknowledged the recent regional developments that have reinforced her confidence in the UAE’s leadership and preparedness. “While headlines often focus on uncertainty and conflict, the reality on the ground in the UAE is one of calm, preparedness, and confidence,” she said.
Personal Connections to the UAE
For Shezeen Anwer, a 38-year-old Indian banker, signing the pledge was a deeply personal decision. Having grown up in the UAE, he described the Emirates as a constant presence in his life. Anwer shared cherished memories from his childhood in Abu Dhabi, stating, “The streets, the places, the people, it all shaped who I am today.”
After completing his studies, Anwer returned to the UAE to build his career, feeling a sense of fulfillment in doing so. He remarked, “There is something truly special about this place. The warmth, the energy, the ambition, and the beautiful mix of people and cultures.”
In expressing his reasons for signing the pledge, Anwer stated, “The UAE is not just a country I live and work in. It is home, in every sense of the word. Signing the pledge was my way of celebrating that and giving back to a place that has given me so much.”
As reported by www.emirates247.com, this initiative highlights the deep-rooted connections residents have with the UAE and their commitment to its future.
