Huawei has officially launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design, the world’s first dual-hinged, tri-fold phone, with prices starting at 19,999 yuan (around $2,809) for the base 256GB model. This makes it more expensive than a 16-inch MacBook Pro. The phone features a unique “Z” fold, expanding from a 6.4-inch display when collapsed to a 10.2-inch OLED display when fully unfolded. It can also be used in a 7.9-inch partially unfolded mode.
The Mate XT comes with 16GB of RAM and three storage options: 256GB, 512GB (priced at 21,999 yuan or $3,089), and 1TB (23,999 yuan or $3,370). It boasts a 5,600mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 12MP periscope cameras, while an 8MP front camera is housed in the left screen when unfolded.
Though it has generated significant interest with 3.7 million preorders in China, global availability remains uncertain.
